Can anyone give me information about what’s it like to live in N. Carolina & possible a great place to move?

I am a single middle age woman who loves the ocean and needs a change of pace, thinking of moving to N. Carolina or Memphis, TN, but don’t know anything about either place. I will have to have a job market to work with also, as I still have to work. I just know its time to go and these are the places that came to mind. Could someone please help me? I am a disabled veteran so I would want to be close to a VA Hospital as well, maybe even a military base where I might be able to get work.
